Crispy Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders
Crispy Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders
If you love crispy fried chicken but fancy something that’s healthier, then you have to try these spicy airfryer honey garlic-chicken tenders. I actually ran out of eggs, and I had already started cooking, so I subbed the egg with sriracha sauce to make the cornflakes stick – you can use egg, or any other sauce like sweet chilli or bbq if you fancy!
Crispy Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders

Servings: people
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts cut up into strips
- 60 g crushed cornflakes
Seasoning for chicken:
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp chicken seasoning cajun might work too
- salt & pepper
- 2 tbsp of flour
- 3 tbsp of sriracha
Sauce ingredients:
- 3 tbsp honey
- 3 tbsp sriracha
- 6 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 crushed garlic clove
- chilli flakes if you like hot
- 6 tbsp water
Instructions
- Cut your chicken in strips and put them in a bowl. Sprinkle over the flour and seasoning and mix so the chicken is well coated. Then add 3 tbsp of sriracha and mix again till the chicken is well coated (if you have larger pieces you might need more sauce).
- Preheat your airfryer to 185℃ or oven to 365°F . Crush your cornflakes by hand into a bowl.
- Dip your chicken strips in the cornflake mix then lay them on a tray ready to cook. Spray each strip with spray oil before putting in the airfryer or oven to cook. They should cook in 18 minutes in the airfryer and oven might need 20-25 minutes. Turn them halfway and cooking times might vary depending on appliances so cook them for longer if needed.
- While the chicken is cooking make your sauce. Add all the sauce ingredients to a small frying pan. First stir on low heat so the garlic doesn’t burn then turn the heat up to medium, and keep stirring till the thin watery texture starts to to turn thicker but still like a sauce not a glaze texture. You don’t want the sauce to turn into a super thick glaze so add more water or soy sauce if it turns too thick.
- Once the chicken is cooked, individually dip each chicken strip into the sauce.
- You can eat these on their own, in a salad or they are great in a wrap!
Notes
These are a lower fat way of making chicken tenders – cornflakes will never taste the same as fried food, but it means you can enjoy these types of meals on a more regular basis if you cutting down on fried foods.
